Arizona Heat

My sister, Katie, and her husband, Steve, went on vacation over to Europe together for Steve's graduation. They have been planning it for years, and finally got to go. Katie flew me out to Arizona to take care of her two girls while they were gone. I knew we would have fun, but I didn't know it would be THAT much fun! We had a BLAST!!

I went on a school field trip with the girls to Makuta's Island (just a huge play place to climb, run around, go down slides, etc.) At times I felt a tiny closterphobic because we would climb through lots of small places (it's meant for kids...I could fit just fine, but got scared a few times just because I am very closterphobic.) But when Lizzie got scared too, I had to buck up and deal with it to help her feel better. So after that, we had LOTS of fun!

On the last day of school, Halle and Liz had an awards assembly.

Lizzie got an art award--she submitted an art project into a competition, and was one of the semi finalists in the WHOLE state of Arizona--there were only about 6 semifinalists state-wide, and Lizzie was one!!

Halle was chosen to be the studen of the year for the WHOLE school! The past two years she has been the student of the year just for her classes, but this time she was it for the whole school. She is such a good student!! And not just good at staying on task and doing her homework, but also shows such good character, always willing to help her classmates and teachers.

I am SOO proud of my girls!!!

I visited Halle's class one day, and Lizzie's class another day and we had lots of fun at school together.

The girls have a season pass to the Phoenix Zoo, so we went there.

It was a good thing they have a pass so they can go as many times as they want...because

after being there for 10 minutes, Liz was done walking and wanted to leave, and after 20 minutes,

Halle was done with the heat and wanted to leave. So because they don't stay long, it wouldn't be worth the money, but because they have a pass, they can go as many days and many times as they want.

We decided to go on the camel ride while we were there. It was super fun!!

Because it was so hot there, we went swimming lots.

Funny story about this time we went swimming--We were in a rush to get out the door and leave, so I just grabbed both of my swimming suits and thought I would decide later which one to wear. When we got to the place to change, Lizzie realized she forgot her swimming top at home. I had already had my blue tankini on, so I took it off, and put on my other swimming suit. Then I tightened my tankini lots and put it on Liz. It was a tiny bit big, but actually fit really well for being her aunt's who is 14 years older than her! It worked out great!

The last day of school got out at noon, so we decided to go have a picnic at the Mesa Temple.

It was very peaceful and beautiful there--like always. We loved it!

We had such a great time and I would definitely go back anytime she needed me again!!

I'm Engaged!!

Yes, you heard right--I'm engaged!!
When I came home from my mission, I thought a lot about the possibility of getting engaged, but I also really wanted to go back out on my mission. But once I came home, Zach didn't want to let me go again! :) I guess this is why I was sent home. The Lord has a plan for me, and knows the perfect timing for it all. My new mission now is this--to get married and have a family.

SOO Zach proposed on April 4, 2011. I was working from 3-6 that day, and had no idea what he was planning. When I got off work, I was texting him while I was waiting for my mom to come pick me up from work--asking him what he wanted to do for family home evening. He told me to go home and get ready (out of my scrubs) and then call him when I was ready and we would figure something out for family home evening.

My mom drove me home, and pulled into the garage. I was texting back Zach when I started to walk inside, oblivious to everything else around me. My mom then said "Stop! Put your phone away, and give me the stuff in your arms. Then you can go inside." I was very confused, but then when I turned back toward the door before going in, there was a paper taped to the door for me.

It was a "Blues Clues" theme. It said "Looks like Blue has something to say...Let's follow the clues to solve the mystery! Don't forget to draw each clue in your handy, dandy notebook..." I don't know if you have ever seen blues clues or know what it is (my dad didn't know haha). It's a kid's show on TV where there is a dog-Blue, and he leaves clues around to say what he wants to say. The guy actor in it follows the clues, and has his "handy dandy notebook" too to draw all the clues in it, and he solves the mystery that way.

So I read this, then went inside. I was walking down the hall with my mom, and I stopped at the stairs, and my mom looked in the TV room. I asked if anything was in there. She said no. So I just went upstairs. When I got to the living room, my niece Natalee was there, and started taking pictures of me (keep in mind, I was still in my scrubs, and didn't even get to get ready and look cute!). I looked over by the fireplace and found the first blue's clues footprint. There was a big picture of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple--framed and everything. That is where we are getting married--it is a BEAUTIFUL picture!

Then I walked around the house more, and went into my room, where I found the next blue's clues footprint. On the ground, he had his scriptures there, opened up to a certain scripture--Mark 10:7-9--"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

Then I didn't know where to go. I asked mom what to do next. Was I supposed to call him since he said to call him after I was ready? Where else could a clue be? Mom said "Well have you checked in the TV room?"

"Well, no, you looked in there and said there wasn't anything in there."

"Oh, well, I don't know. There could be. So where are you going to look next?"

"In the TV room now, because you just told me to!!"

(Mom isn't very subtle...)

So I went down to the TV room, and this time, the door was closed, and the light on. So I opened up the door a little bit--about 6 inches--and just stood there. I had found the last blue's clue--and solved the mystery. Zach was standing in the middle of the room with a dozen roses in one hand, and a box in the other hand. I stood at the door, just staring at him, for about 20 more seconds--trying to catch my breath and calm down and get a grip of myself. Then I walked over to him. He gave me the flowers, and then took my hand, knelt down on one knee, and opened the box to show a BEAUTIFUL ring. He said a few things, including that he loves me very much, and then called me by my full name, and asked if I would marry him.

Two things--first, I started tearing up (not bawling, just tearing up a bit) while he was down on his knee. Second, I have NEVER seen him shake so bad!! It was really cute though!!

I had a hard time finding my voice, and also my courage to speak, but I eventually got it, and said yes. He got up and we hugged for a very long time :) :) It was an amazing experience, and I fell even more madly in love with him--if that's even possible!! We both couldn't stop smiling and were SOO happy :)

About my ring--we went ring shopping together, and he picked this one out and showed it to me. He told me it was his favorite, but at first I wasn't convinced I absolutely loved it. The next day, after thinking about it for a while and looking at the pictures lots, I realized that yes, this was my favorite ring and I absolutely love it! It is beautiful and I wanted this one. I told him that, and have not regretted the decision at all. I love love love it! He did good picking it out to begin with :)

A few days later, a bunch of my siblings were over at my brother Jon's house to hang out. My sister-in-law made a way cute cake for our engagement. Thanks Kim!!

My Mission to Serve the Lord

As many of you know, I had the amazing opportunity to go on an LDS mission. However, I got very sick and was honorably released to come home and get better. Even though I had to go through a few trials, I am SO grateful I was able to serve as a set apart missionary for the Lord. Here are a few journal entries I wrote on my mission that I wanted to put up here.

This is my journal entry from my last day in the MTC.

Well, yes, it is the day we all leave the MTC. Everyone in my district has already left (at 3am and the rest at 5am) except Elder Grajeda and me. Elder Grajeda has to keep going to physical therapy for his hip or something and has to stay another week. I am going home this evening—home home. This whole past week has been super hard! I’m terrified to go home!

Despite it being a hard week, the Lord has given me many tender mercies and has let me feel His love very strongly. I want to share a few of them.

One night this past week (I think it was Wednesday) we were done with everything early so I got take a long shower—a 50 minute shower! It was very nice. I was very down, discouraged and frustrated—and I just really needed to relax and also needed the spirit help me feel better. I saw down in the shower and sang hymns to myself. Then I started crying, and really needed to feel my Heavenly Father’s love. I started to sing “A Child’s Prayer.” The words came out as if it was my own prayer. “Heavenly Father, are you really there? And do you hear and answer every child’s prayer?” As I said child, I first thought, well, I’m not a child. But then I realized I was my Heavenly Father’s child, and right then, I felt as if I were a child again. I became as a little child right then, and the spirit overwhelmed me, and I felt the love of my Father, as if he were saying “My child, I hear you. Be at peace and know that I love you.” He told me not to fear and that everything will be okae. He loves me and is watching over me.

At the devotion on Tuesday, first we sang some of my very favorite hymns-How Firm a Foundation, Lead Kindly Light, Where Can I Turn for Peace, Nearer My God to Thee, and Abide with me, ‘Tis Even Tide. One song right after the other, I felt the love of my Savior and His help. When we sang “Lead Kindly Light” I noticed some words I have never noticed before in the song. It says “I loved to choose and see my path, but now—Lead thou me on.” Thos words popped out at me, and I realized that’s exactly how I am. I like to see my path, I like to know what is going to happen. But lately, I have been so scared because I don’t know what will happen or where I am going. So I gave myself to the Lord, and am trusting Him to lead me. I know He knows the best path for me—much better than I know—and He will protect and take care of me.

After devo, we had a testimony meeting as a district. Elder Grajeda said something that stuck out to me and helped me a lot. He said “Everything is in the Lord’s hands.” It was short and simple, and I already knew that, but I guess I just needed to be reminded of it.

I also read a lot of scriptures and talks this past week. It amazes me—all the things the Lord has blessed me with this week to help me. In 2 Nephi 2:24, it says “But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of Him who knoweth all things.” It gave me comfort to know that the Lord knows what He is doing and that it will be okae. I heard a quote by President Hinckley saying “Your future is as bright as your faith”. I just need to have more faith that things will be okae, and I will be blessed. Faith in Every Footstep.

One last thing—tender mercy—I will share is about a conference talk I read, and about my companion. I have been worried about things at home lately. It seems like there is a lot of trials my family is going through. I was talking to Hermana Sorensen about it. She said maybe I am going home to help my family. Maybe I was sent here to help my family grow closer. She said –whatever the reason, don’t look for the bad. Look at it like I had the opportunity to be here, and am now going on to do other things the Lord has for me to do. She is always so encouraging and loving and teaches me to be happy—to have joy! I love her and already miss her terribly!!

Then I read a talk by President Uchtdorf called “Look for the Good”. He talked about how you can usually find what you are looking for—look hard enough and you can discover both good and bad in almost anyone and anything. Some see the glass half full, where as others see it half empty. He said “It’s our choice; for whatever we seek, that we will certainly find.” These words have helped me lift up my spirits and not think about how sad I am to go home. I am very grateful for the amazing experiences I have had here, and wouldn’t trade them for anything. I am very excited for the rest of my district to be in the field and I know they will do AMAZING out there—just like they did here—amazing! I love them all so much! I am very grateful for my teachers I have had here and for all the help they have given me. They really changed my life and made me want to be better.

I wrote this in my email home—my last one—and wanted to write it in here.
Why was I sent on a mission just to be in the MTC and not even make it to the field? I honestly don't know. Maybe it was a test of faith. A test of strength. A test of obedience. A test of trust. To learn from those here. To learn something I only could have been taught here. Maybe even just to help our family grow closer. I don't know. But I do know this: My heavenly Father loves me. He has a plan for me. He knows exactly what I need and what is best for me. Whatever the reason, I am so very grateful for the opportunity I had to serve, even for a short time, as a set apart missionary of the Lord. I know my mission doesn't end here. I know I can and will be a missionary the rest of my life and share the gospel with those around me.

Coming home is not what I decided myself, but what the Lord decided for me. I have given my all to Him, and it is in His hands. All things are done in the wisdom of the Lord. Everything will work out just fine. I know have a new mission in life, and I will keep serving the Lord to my very best ability.

Wedding, Baptism, and Baby Blessing Weekend

What an amazing weekend!!!! Wow! I loved it!! Thursday was Steven and Hailey’s wedding, Saturday was Halle’s baptism, and Sunday was Julia’s baby blessing! The whole family was here except Daniel, and we missed him lots.

I was so grateful to be able to go to the sealing of Steven and Hailey. I am so glad that I have already gone through the temple, and was able to witness that amazing ceremony. I have always been so worried that I wouldn’t be able to go to his sealing, but it is just another witness to me that the Lord loves me, and answers my prayers, because I WAS able to be there.

The rest of the day was so great. The luncheon was at our church, right after the temple. Jon and Kim sang “Endless Love” while playing a slide show that Natalee made about Steve and Hailey. The story behind that is actually pretty funny. One night we were on a group date (Steven and a blind date, me and a blind date, Jon and Kim, and Jon and Kim’s two friends). We were playing rock band and Kim went up to sing. Without her knowing, we recorded her on a phone. Steven started videoing it, then gave it to Jon to finish recording. After she was done singing, she found out that they recorded her. She was so upset!!! She promised Steven that she would sing at his wedding (this was long before he was engaged or even knew Hailey) if he didn’t post that video on the internet or anywhere. So since he didn’t, she sang at the luncheon for him. It was cute :) She thinks she is a horrible singer and Jon thinks he’s bad too, but they both are actually a lot better than they think!

After cleaning up, we went home and just hung out for a while until it was time to go to the reception center. Mark took Grandma and Grandpa Reeder back to Provo after the luncheon, but the traffic was really bad, so he wasn’t back to the reception center when we were supposed to be there. So Hailey’s family took pictures first. They did all the pictures they needed to and then it was our family’s turn. Mark got there right then. We got lots of good family pictures! Then we got to eat and hang out, then the people started coming. It was a great reception, and I really liked the reception center. I am thinking now about a reception center for my wedding. They do the food for you, the music, the cake if you want, set and take down everything, and it is lots less stress. Later in the evening, we had a dance. The DJ played lots of fun music, every kind of music, and helped everyone have so much fun. There was line dancing, slow dancing, fast dancing, and everyone showed off their dance moves! The kids started off the dancing, then the adults came in also. The funniest people of the night were Alan and Caroline. Caroline moves her hips around a lot and is so cute when she does it. She is only 2 years old, and is in that extremely entertaining stage of life. Alan, being himself, got out there and just broke out dancing like crazy but good and extremely funny too! I can’t even describe it. But if you know Al’s personality, you can imagine how he would dance. Afterwards, Sarah went up to him and was like “Dad! You are usually so lame when you dance but you were so good when you were dancing tonight!” haha! It was really funny! I think Sarah used to think it was lame, but when she saw everyone cheering for Al, and loving it, then she didn’t think it was so lame anymore. The night ended great, with a huge bubble machine outside for Steve and Hailey to run through. It was a beautiful day!

On Friday afternoon (I will skip most of the day, I didn’t do much) Mom, Dad and I went shopping for some missionary clothes. We went to the sister missionary mall in Provo and got quite a few skirts and a few shirts. I am really excited about them. Later that evening we had a bonfire outside. We had the whole family come over and also another family that lives with Jon, who work for Dad. They speak Spanish, not much English, and I felt really bad I couldn’t talk to them. But a few of my siblings could, so that was good. It was really fun making smores, talking and spending time together.

Saturday morning was Halle’s baptism. Halle asked me to play the piano for it a few weeks ago. I was very happy to play for her. Mark lead the music, and Jesse and Lisa gave talks. My dad baptized her, and Steve Farnsworth confirmed her. It was a very spiritual experience, and there were many tears. It was great.

Halle had a baptism book, and Katie asked me to write my testimony in it. This is what I wrote:

I am grateful for this opportunity to share my testimony with you, Halle. I am so happy for the choices you made today at your baptism. I do know that this church is true, and I love my Savior. I know he loves me, and I know he loves you too. He atoned for us, so that we can repent and come back to him someday. He also atoned for our pains, sicknesses, sadness, trials, and everything. When you are having a hard time, know that he will always be there to help you through it. Prayer is one of the most powerful things. I know the Lord hears and answers our prayers. He wants us to be happy, and I’ve realized in my life that the things that make me the happiest are faith, family, and friends. Always stay worthy to have the Holy Ghost with you. Having him as a constant companion will help you throughout your life. I love you Halle, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Sunday was Julia’s blessing. David gave the blessing and it was a very good one. He had the spirit there, and said what was needed. I got to hold Julia after the blessing during the rest of Sacrament meeting, and it was amazing. There was this amazing feeling love and the spirit. I thought about how she was just in Heaven not too long ago, and how close she is to her Heavenly Father. It was an amazing feeling of love, happiness, and closeness to the Lord. I loved that experience.

I went in to get my temple recommend interview with the stake president tonight, and it was great! My stake president is President Henry J. Eyring, the son of THE President Henry B. Eyring. He looks just like his dad, and is just as spiritual. I was nervous at first, because he’s a bit intimidating. But we started talking, and he is just such an amazing guy! I asked him if he had any advice for my mission and he gave me a few tips.

He said that he has been on two missions, and he tried to make it better the second time around. He said that the most important person to convert on missions is you. Then he wished he would have looked at his companions as investigators also. He didn’t get along with one of his first companions, and didn’t really try to. Years later President Eyring was called as a mission president. He thought that he would call his old companion and try to make amends. He said that his old companion he didn’t get along with left the church and had been very inactive for a long time. He said that he wished he would have done better with his companion, cared more, and helped convert him also.

He also said that he was so busy trying to figure out the right thing to do for everyone, instead of listening to the Lord to tell him the right thing to do. He said don’t get stressed out, enjoy it, and listen to the Lord. Don’t just try to think what the Lord would want for the people, but actually let the Lord tell you. Listen to the Spirit. Don’t delay the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Following the Holy Ghost at the wrong time is just like not following it at all.

Called to Serve

After nine weeks of waiting for my mission call, I FINALLY got it!! I don't have many pictures of it, but the experience was AMAZING!! It was one of the most spiritual experiences for me! I feel like all of my prayers have been answered, and my fears have calmed. I’m so full of love and gratitude to my family, friends, and the Lord.

The day before I opened it, I was terrified. Even the day I opened it, I was still terrified. I
was just nervous about where I would be called, and I wanted to open the call by myself, let it sink in, and then tell everyone else. But I knew I couldn’t do that, because my family was going to be there with me when I opened it. But that was another one of the blessings that I received that night. And I was so happy to have my family there with me to share this special experience.

So we had it set up to where we would open it at 7:00pm, Utah time. We had Mom’s, Steve’s, Jon’s, and my computer to Skype with the family who wasn’t in town. When you have everyone Skype on one computer, you can’t see video. But when you have everyone on a separate computer, everyone can see video. We had David and his family, Becky and her family, Katie and her family, and Daniel all on Skype. Then we had Mark and Chris on the phone because they weren’t by a computer to Skype. At our house, there was Mom, Dad, Jon and his family, Jesse, Cindy and her family, and a few of my friends—Kameron, Amy, Beth and her fiancé. I was so glad to have everyone there. I was nervous because of all the pressure of everyone being there, but that really wasn’t what it was like at all. There was SOO much love and support from everyone there, and I was so happy to have all of them there.

I opened my call and started reading—“Dear Sister Wright: you are hereby called to serve…” and then at that second, the internet stopped working, and we lost everyone on Skype. I
had already skipped down and read where I was going, even though I didn’t say it out loud yet though. But I stopped reading, and Jon fixed Skype, and got everyone back on. Then I started over.

“Dear Sister Wright: You are herby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…” (I was tearing up, and crackly voice by this point…the spirit was SO strong!) “…You are assigned to labor in the Texas Houston South Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Spanish language.”

I just started bawling by this point (the video doesn't show it much, but I was!). The spirit was so strong there, and I was so happy with where I was going. But let me back up a little bit and tell you all of my blessings and feelings while all of this happened.

Remember how I said I wanted to open it myself, let it sink in, and then tell everyone? That is exactly what happened. (I only wanted to because I was nervous, NOT because I didn't want my family there. I was SO happy my family was there.) I found out where I was going, but everyone on Skype was lost, so I had a few minutes to myself to think about it and let it sink in. I know everyone else was annoyed that it happened, but I was so grateful and very blessed to have that happen. I let it sink in a tiny bit, and then told everyone when Skype started working again.

It’s actually kind of funny that I’m going to Texas. Amy guessed Texas, and I kept saying NOO! And that I hated Texas! Really, just two days before I opened my call, I was walking home from class, and thinking about how I hate Texas. (I only say I hate Texas because of what Amy says about it…I have never been there. But where she lives is in the middle of NOWHERE, and where I am going is one of the five largest cities in America.) But the second I saw Texas on that paper, I was instantly very happy. While we were waiting for Skype to come back up, I kept looking at Amy, my eyes tearing up, and thinking it was kind of funny in a way. Another thing is that David and Jenny and Chris and Jen live in Houston Texas. I know that I won’t be able to see my family, but the Lord knows that I am terrified to leave my family, but that by having them close to me, that I will do much better on my mission. Even if I don’t see them, it is so comforting to know that if something does happen, I will have family right there for me. When I read the call out loud, half of the family didn’t believe me. They thought I just said it because David and Chris live there, and that I was joking around.
But when they realized I was for real, they were really excited for me!

Another reason why all my prayers were answered—people would ask me where I want to go on my mission, and I said anywhere Spanish speaking. And that really is what I got. I
figured I would stay in the states because of my migraines and other health problems that aren’t quite figured out. But I still really wanted to speak Spanish, and so I feel very blessed that I got called to this mission.

The spirit was very strong when I read that call, and I am very excited and grateful to go to Texas to serve the Lord and His children. This feels so right, and I know it is what I am supposed to do!

Bad Romance--Spring Semester 2010

Spring Semester was one of the funnest semesters I've had up at college!! I had only three roommates, and they were all awesome! I made so many friends, and I had a blast!! I miss my friends already!!

Canada Day in the USA

July 1st was Canada Day! Since my roommate is Canadian, along with lots of people in my ward, and Indie and I are half Canadia, we decided to celebrate it! We drew maple leaves all over the sidewalk, and Dana wrote out the national anthem. We also had pancakes with maple syrup. It was quite fun :)

A few of my friends and I went to the midnight showing of Eclipse. The movie was pretty good, compared to the other movies, but nothing compared to the book! We didn't really go for the movie to be honest, we just went to hang out and have fun. And it was lots of fun!!

I found a ride home at last minute on Friday night, and got home pretty late, but I was SOO happy to be home for Easter!! The weekend was great! Mark was in town, and so was Becky and Alan. (And of course, everyone else, who already lived in town). They all came over Saturday night, and a lot came over Sunday too. And the others that weren't in town, we talked to on Skype. It was so fun! I loved my weekend full of family,conference, Christ, and love!

This past weekend, I went home with a few friends just for the weekend. I had a few wedding receptions to go to, a farewell, and my dad's work show. On the way back to Rexburg on Sunday, Tace's truck broke down--an hour and a half from Rexburg. We were in the middle of nowhere, and were stranded there for about two hours until a tow truck came and my roommate Aubrey came to pick us up. Total, from Utah to Rexburg, it took us about 7 hours (where it usually takes three and a half!) So we made the most fun out of it as we could!

Nauvoo Idol

I live in Nauvoo House up at college, and every winter semester we have Nauvoo Idol. It's a singing competition, just like American Idol, but for our apartment complex. People tried out, then we had 10 people perform the night of. The audience voted (we had over 100 people there--it was great!) and then the top three would sing again, we would take votes again, and choose the winners. Amy and I were in charge of it, and we had lots of fun doing it.

We are in the wheel chair accessible apartment and so when we set off our fire alarm the whole apartment complex goes off. When the firemen showed up, I was EXTREMELY embarrassed. We woke up this morning, got all ready for church, and then found a little suprise when we tried to leave...a bunch of guys last night decided to prank us! and the snow was packed on our door, so we couldn't get out!!!

So what we had to do was take off the screen to the window and climb out the window so we wouldn't be late to church!!

And this is from the outside.

We talked to people at church and found out at a few of the guys that did it...one of my FHE brothers. It was a few of them actually, along with a few other guys from different apartments. They said that they took the snow from somewhere else, and it took them three truck fulls of snow to get all of this.

After we left to church, a few guys from our ward shoveled the snow for us (not the ones who did it, just some other friends...one of them was my home teacher, and the other was his friend). They shoveled all the snow up for us so we could walk in our door! So nice! But it was a pretty dang funny prank!!

12:08 am—Amy is curling my hair, and I had no idea it was already after midnight…my birthday! Beth calls and wishes me happy birthday!

6:49am—Mom and Dad call to sing me happy birthday. It was so nice!!!

8:30-11:30 am—classes (the first part of my day was boring...and I wasn't happy we had to work with cadavers in lab because I didn't want to smell like them all day. But I was only in there 5 minutes max, so I didn't smell like them, no worries)

11:30-2:00—study for a test, talk to Amy on Skype, eat soup…spill soup all over my pants…(don’t worry I changed)

2:00—go take test at testing center

2:45—look at test score…not very good…but life goes on. On to the BYUI Bookstore and get some new music books

3:00-5:00—go to class

5:00—play the piano and sing with Amy in the Taylor Chapel. Dang we are good!

5:30—go home to find beautiful flowers from Katie and Steve and the girls, and a little slip of paper on my bed from Amy…clue number one to a scavenger hunt!! EEK!

5:45—Katie, Steve, Halle, and Lizzie call me and sing happy birthday to me! I told them to call back and leave a voicemail so I could have it to listen to over and over :)

6:00-7:30—leave to do the scavenger hunt!! It was great!!

First: Beth was waiting for me at Wendy’s with some French fries for me.

The next clue led to Deseret Book where Seth was waiting for me with a temple calendar.

Then on to JAMBA JUICE! Alli bought me a Jamba :)

that clue led to the Snow building where Kevin and Garrett were waiting with a Symphony candy bar for me. They sang happy birthday to me, and Garrett played it on his harmonica haha! It was awesome!

Next was to the Testing Center where John was with a cute little cup and lots of mints for me.

Then to the Taylor Building. Alex was in the chapel waiting for me with scentsy wax and my next clue that led to the upstairs of the Taylor building.

(Alex told me he was trying to look funny but that it didn't work and he looked like an idiot ha ha he is a cute kid normally ha ha!)

Jessica and Callie were there with some cute socks for me.

Then on to the Gardens. Sarah and Seth had a dozen pink roses for me there! It was so cute! (I don't have a picture of them because the one I had was too fuzzy and didn't work)

The next clue led to the Ricks Building. This is a picture of me and my roses in the elevator in that building.

In the Ricks Building was my best friend!! Amy Burton put this whole thing together for me (with some help from Beth and the others participated). What an amazing friend!!! She had a package for me from her parents that they sent in the mail for me! They are so sweet!

The last clue led to the Rexburg Temple. It was gorgeous! My favorite place up at college!!

My whole FHE family was there waiting for me! It was so great to be with all of them! They made my birthday amazing!!!!!

STEVE'S HOME!! YAY!
My brother just older than me has been serving in the Buenos Aires, Argentina West Mission for the last two years. Two weeks ago my parents flew down there to pick him up and tour around in Argentina and Brazil a little bit with him. On Thursday and Friday, my whole family came into town and got ready for Steve's homecoming. Saturday morning at 10:30am, his plane landed and Elder Wright was finally back home! It was so great to have the whole family (44 people with mom, dad, brothers, sisters, in-laws, and nieces and nephews) there together for his homecoming. Up to this point in my life, I have never been happier!!

1:10am--I finally get out of bed and decide to be a part of the action

1:30am--sneaking out of the apartment after curfew **cue mission impossible theme music**
1:30-2:00am--go to FHE bros house (rolling on ground, hiding behind cars...being VERY careful not to get caught) and saran wrap their whole doorway

I am up at college now! Amy and I drove up here about two weeks ago, and we are loving it! She is my roommate (which is a blessing, she wasn't going to be even in my same housing complex, but last minute--VERY last minute--as in when I was checking in--there was a space open at my complex. And then the girl I was supposed to room with was trying to sell her contract, so it made it perfect for Amy to be my roommate!). I love all my other roommates too!! They are amazing! This will be a great semester.

So Amy and I took pictures at the border of Idaho and Utah. Then two days ago, Beth, Amy and I went to the Gardens on campus and took pictures!

Last Post of Summer 09

I go back up to school next week! So I decided to do one last Summer post, and update. My summer has been wonderful! Each summer seems to go by faster and faster, and even though this summer was the longest I've ever had (from April till September) I felt like it went by faster than ever! Here are some of the things I've done this summer (besides work like crazy!!)

In the middle of July I went up to Rexburg to visit Beth at school. We went to a cabin Friday night till Saturday afternoon, then went to a demolition derby Saturday night. On Sunday we went to church, and sat on the temple grounds and just talked about life. It was great to visit her!

At the beginning of August I went to my home ward campout with my parents

We had a "tea party" at my grandma's house, and we were all supposed to wear big hats, pearls, and all that fun stuff. I didn't want a hat, so I brought a parasol. It was fun!

At the beginning of August I went down to St. George with a group of friends for the weekend just for fun! It was great!

As a singles ward we go rock climbing every Wednesday. Brother Bouck is the one who takes us all, and he is so awesome!

This past Monday we had a Mros Family Reunion. Mros is Grandma Wright's maden name, so it was for all her posperity, and her two sisters and their posterity. In my family, Katie, Steve, Halle, and Lizzie flew from Arizona, and Becky, Sarah, Joe, Caleb, and Caroline drove from Cedar City for the family reunion. Jenny and Ellie were also here from Texas, but Dave couldn't come because of work. But it was so great to see and play with my family!!

Fourth of July

This fourth of July weekend was really awesome! Katie and Steve came up from Arizona to visit for the holiday, and we had lots of fun! We also had Halle and Lizzie on Thursday and Friday. AnnaLee was with us too becuase Jesse and Heather had their baby! It was an exciting and busy weekend!

On Saturday I woke up to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic--on Dad's sound system in the living room. Just like he does every fourth of July, he puts that on, and BLASTS it through the house. I LOVE it! (But AnnaLee didn't like it so loud, so we had to turn it down). We all got ready (I did AnnaLee's hair and made her all cute) and we went to the ward parade and breakfast at the church. We took the horse, and AnnaLee got to ride him over there. But when we got the church, we tightened the sinch so I could get on the horse, and once I got on the horse he didn't like it. The sinch was too tight. He got a little mad, and kind of flipped out. But he calmed down, and me and AnnaLee got off of him. (It was cute because I was really scared, and my hands were shaking so bad, but AnnaLee came up to me and said "it's okay, we will be okay". So cute! She was also telling everyone what a brave cowgirl she was ha ha and she was very brace. Way cute!) So Dad rode the horse the rest of the time, and he was great.

Later on we went to the fair down at Sandy City. We had lots of fun there also. Then we just hung out for a few hours. (I fit my nap in those few hours...those who know me know I need a nap every day.)

Around six, Katie, Steve and Me went to the parade down at Sandy City. My friend Cesar met us there, and after we all went home for the family BBQ! Grandma Wright came, along with Holly and James, and Scott and Paula and part of their families. About half of my siblings were there also. It was so much fun to play with everyone! We ate and played games and rode the horse. Then we did fireworks!! Tommy was the cutest! Cesar and I were passing out sparklers to the kids and helping out with them. When Tom got his sparkler, he would go out in front of everyone and do a big dance with his sparkler. It was so cute!!

While we were watching the city's fireworks and listening to the music that goes along with it, my favorite patriotic song played. It was "I'm Proud to Be An American". I am very proud to be here in America and to have the freedoms that we have. I am very blessed to be here, and I love it!!

Fishing in the Bear Trap

For Father's Day, Dad wanted to go up to Montana and go fishing. It was just going to be me, him, Jon, Kim and their kids, but at the last minute, Mom decided to come too. I was very glad she came with us. We drove up on Thursday, and got there late so we just went to bed. On Friday, we got up and got ready to go fishing!

I went down the river a bit with Dad. Jon came down the river with us a bit later after he fished with his kids. He told us that Tommy was the only one to catch a fish, and it was on his first try. Dad and I hadn't even caught any fish yet. It was a hard weekend for fishing--they just weren't biting. So after a few hours, we left, Tommy still being the only one to catch a fish.

We went to the Candy store in Virginia City. We all love that store!!

After we rested and ate, Dad, Jon and I went back out to the Bear Trap to fish again. Dad caught three fish, and Jon and I still didn't have any. It got dark and was raining so we decided to go. While Jon was gutting a fish, I decided to try once more. I went to the same place Tommy got his fish, and I finally got a fish! I was so happy! It wasn't very big, but hey! At least I got one! Jon helped me gutt it, but I had to do most of it. Nasty.

The next day we went shopping, and then just came home. My Dad and I got a picture while we were fishing, and for Father's Day, I got a cute fishing picture frame, and put our picture in it for him. It was a really fun weekend, and I was so glad to get away and spend time with my family.

Life this Summer

Everyone keeps telling me to update this, but I don't have much to write. I'll try though :)

I am at home for the summer. I am working for my mom at Country Care Homes--an assisted living center. Some days it's pretty hard, but for the most part I like it. I have learned a lot from working there and am very grateful to have a job especially how the economy is right now. I am also going to school at SLCC (Salt Lake Community College). I am taking two classes this summer. Not much, but with working full time, it's enough for me.

In the fall I will go back up to BYU-Idaho. I already signed up for my classes, and will have 18 credits. Kind of a lot. But I will work hard, and hope I do okae. I have the next two years of my life planned out, but it's funny how much your plan changes. My brother told me that when things don't go according to plan, change the plan, not the goal. So I'm doing that. I am working with what I have, and trying to reach my goal.

I am VERY excited for the next two weeks. My sister Katie and her family will be here from Arizona next week. Then the week after that my sister Becky and her family are moving from Iowa to Cedar City, and will stop by and visit. I am very excited to see my famiy. I miss them very much!

I also can't wait until my brother Steven gets off his mission. I really miss him. He's one of my very best friends. I have loved writing him throughout his mission, and learning a lot from him and his experiences. He has grown so much on his mission, and is such an amazing guy! When he gets home, everyone in my family will be here to welcome him home. It's been a very long time since all my family has been together. I can't wait!!

Third week of school...harder than I thought

I am now in the middle of the third week of school. And it was great up here until school started. Then it got really hard. I was changing my classes all the first week, and so I got way backed up on homework, and I just didn't have a good first week. The second week was better, and now I'm even better. I got the hang of all my classes, the schedules, and all the homework. I have non-stop homework all the time, but I'm doing okae. My roommates are awesome and we get involed in lots of things. On Sunday we went stadium singing...singing hymns under the stadium steats, and its really cool because there are lots of people and it echos and it just sounds real cool. We go to Disney movie night tuesdays, sometimes hip hop dancing. Wednesdays after my english class [a three hour class!] we go country swing dancing. It's way fun! It is kind of hard to balance everything...classes, homework, and play time, while getting enough sleep. But I think I'm doing pretty good.
On Sunday I got a new calling in my ward. I'm the relief society chorister. I pick the hymns, lead the music, have a thought to go with the hymns, and organize special musical numbers sometimes. I'm excited to serve in the ward :)
It got really cold up here over the weekend. Like, bitterly cold. And that's only the very tip of the ice berg. It's going to get SO much more cold! I don't like it so much.
But anyway, life is great!! :)

College

My parents took me to college this week. I moved in and got a ton of groceries and things i needed. You never really know how much you eat until you have to go shopping for it!! WOW! I met my roommates, and they are AWESOME! I love it :) I've met a few people other than roommates, and I'm just having tonz of fun! School starts next week, so then I'll actually have to focus more. But this weekend is all party time! :)

Hawaii

My parents and I went to Hawaii for a week for my graduation present. It was so much fun! We went para-sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, dinner cruise, helicopter ride, and a luau. I saw SO many fish snorkeling, oh my gosh! it was SO pretty!! and we saw a TON of dolpins! they loved swimming with the boat, and playing with us. It was So cute! :) and we also saw sea turtles :) and we did lots of shopping, and took lots of pictures! it was a great vacation!!

Heritage Tours

I recently got home from a three week church history tour. It was so so fun! It's called Heritage Tours (HT). There was about 90 kids my age [we all just graduated from high school] on two buses the whole three weeks. We were in a different hotel every night, but we had so much fun!!

We started out in Utah, and the first day we went to Martin's Cove. We traveled east all the way up to Vermont, then traveled back another way to Utah. The places we went to were Martin's Cove, Sweetwater, Devil's Gate, Rebecca Winter's grave, Oregon Trail Rutts, Chimney Rock, Mt. Pisgah, Across the Mississippi, Nauvoo, Nauvoo Pageant, Carthage Jail, Johnson Farm, Kirtland Temple and visitors center, Whitney Store, School of the Prophets room, Morley Farm, Niagra Falls, Hill Cumorah, Hill Cumorah Pageant, Fayette, Palmyra, Sacred Grove, Joseph Smith's birthplace [Sharon Vermont], Boston Temple, New York Temple, Manhattan Temple, [Lots of temples], New York City, Lion King on Broadway, Susquehanna River, Gettysburg, Arlington Cemetery, Washington D.C., Holocaust Museum, D.C. Temple, St. Louis Arch, RLDS Temple, LDS Visitors Center in Jackson County, Liberty Jail, Far West, Adam-Ondi-Ahman, and Winter Quarters.

Niagra Falls

My Favorite places we went were the Johnson Home, and Adam-Ondi-Ahman. The Johnson Home was where section 76 of the Doctrine and Covenants were revealed by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to Joseph Smith and Sydney Rigdon. The spirit in the room that it happened was AMAZING! That was also the home where Joseph was taken from his bed in the middle of the night and tarred and feathered by a mob. We learned a lot at every place we stopped, but here i felt the spirit the most. It was awesome.

Adam-Ondi-Ahman was one of our last stops on the tour. We had had an incredible experience on the tour, both spiritual and fun. The thing i really liked here was that most of the places we went were places where things happened in the past. But Adam-Ondi-Ahman is also a great significance to the things that will happen in the future too. It also has a wonderful spirit there. One thing Brother Toone [one of the guides] told us was that he hopes to see all of us there again, when the Savior returns. So I really felt the spirit calling me, telling me, that i need to be worthy to be called back to that place. I want that more than anything.

Sacred Grove

SOO I really had a great experience. I made so so many friends, and I grew a really strong testimony of Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon*, this Church, and Jesus Christ. I love this gospel! The Church is true!!

(*oh by the way, we had a challenge to read the whole Book of Mormon on tour, in those three weeks, and I FINISHED! Wohoo!)
